The Kates Hill Press announces that three new titles are now available.
Breaking new ground we have published a collaboration between a poet and a photographer. The poems of Shaun Hand complement the photography of Tom Hicks in The New Brutalism, a mix of stark realism and dark humour which reflect these modern times.
Another poetry title, Ian Henery’s Poems of Hope were born out of the Covid-19 pandemic. While some are about what has befallen us, others are for his partner and his daughters, others reference local nature reserves, Norse warriors and ancient gods, sister Dora and the Chinese Labour Corps. An uplifting collection to provide us with hope in these troubled times
Finally an old title, THe Gulf, originally published in comb bound, re-released in paperback. Greg Stokes’s collection of short stories reflecting his time working in the Arabian Gulf. Abu Dhabi and Dudley, there couldn’t be two more different places on earth, but the title story The Gulf shows that the histories of both are very similar with local lords fighting over land which held mineral wealth they weren’t aware of. The next four stories span both countries but move in turns from presidential palace in Abu Dhabi to council tenement in Smethwick, from expensive clinic to children’s home.
